About Dr. Jill

Board Certified OB/GYN and dynamic television personality

Real Questions. Real Answers. Up Close and Personal. That’s Dr. Jill’s Style.

Dr. Jill Hechtman

Dr. Jill Hechtman may be an accomplished medical doctor and experienced media personality, but it’s “Dr. Jill” most people know her as. That’s because Dr. Jill’s charisma and “no topic’s off limits” style aims to break the ice while delivering real and relatable medical advice people. In essence, Jill covers the topics everyone is dying to talk about, but are often too afraid to ask.

“Women, in particular, are often too intimidated or even embarrassed to have real conversations with their doctors about their gynecological health,” shares Dr. Jill. “Whether in my own medical practice or when speaking to broadcast audiences, I make it my mission to empower women, and men, to ask the questions and get the answers needed to take charge of their own health and well being.”

Dr. Jill has ascribed to this philosophy for the last eight years as Medical Director of Tampa’s leading medical center for women, Tampa Obstetrics. An OB/GYN board certified with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Hechtman served as the Chairman of the Department of OB/GYN at Brandon Regional Hospital in Brandon, Florida. Today, Dr. Jill is the sitting Vice Chairman of St. Josephs Women's Hospital in Tampa.

Dr. Jill translates her spicy, fun and relatable approach to health care as an engaging medical expert on television shows and networks including Maternity Ward on TLC, True Life on MTV, FOX, NBC, ABC and CBS. She is also a regular contributor to "Dr. Jill’s Medical Tips" on the nationally syndicated news and lifestyle program, Daytime.

Having made dozens of television appearances over the last decade, Dr. Jill’s covered a wide range of medical topics, from teen pregnancy, STDs and caesarean sections to sunscreen protection and cervical cancer, often tackling tough and controversial topics with ease. “Let's just say I’m not afraid to say the word ‘vagina’ or talk about sex.”

“Working with the media, for me, is an honor and an opportunity to inform and engage Americans on critical and relevant medical topics that allow them to make well-informed personal decisions,” says Dr. Jill. “I also hope to take away the stigma from so-called ‘taboo topics; such as vaginal dryness. Patients should never be afraid to ask their doctors about anything that’s on their minds and going on with their bodies!”

A native of Tampa, Dr. Jill attended medical school at the Ross University School of Medicine, began an anesthesiology residency in Chicago and completed a four-year OB/GYN residency in Detroit before returning to Tampa in 2004 to take over as Medical Director of Tampa Obstetrics from her father, Dr. Paul Levine.

Dr. Jill lives in Florida with her husband, Dr. Jason Hechtman, and six-year-old daughter, Emma. In her spare time, she rides horses with Emma and enjoys fishing and boating with her family.
